Ryan Sanders

Platform & full-stack engineer — data, AI, and the infrastructure that ships it.

Industrial engineer turned software & platform engineer. I build .NET services, run cloud-native infrastructure, and turn data into decisions — at Bad Boy Mowers by day and through Pinnacle Data Solutions on the side.

01 / About

A quick introduction

I'm a software and platform engineer based in Arkansas with a background in industrial engineering and analytics. I started out building data tools and machine-learning models, and grew into owning the full stack — from .NET and CoreWCF services to the Docker Swarm, Cloudflare edge, and CI/CD pipelines that run them. Lately I've been deep in applied AI: building LLM-powered assistants, retrieval-augmented (RAG) pipelines, and agentic automation that put models to work on real operational problems. I care about systems that are reliable, observable, and genuinely useful to the people who depend on them. On the side I do contract software consulting for Pinnacle Data Solutions, building multi-tenant web apps and reporting platforms for clients.

Where I've worked

  1. Bad Boy Mowers

    2020–Present

Software / Platform Engineer · Batesville, AR

    • Lead applied-AI initiatives: built LLM-powered internal assistants and retrieval-augmented (RAG) services over company knowledge, plus agentic automation that drafts code, queries data, and triages production alerts — cutting routine engineering toil across the team.
    • Design, build, and operate enterprise .NET services: WCF/CoreWCF SOAP services and a Hangfire-based job-scheduling API (HangfireAPI).
    • Led the migration of Tableau Server from Windows to Linux Docker containers; operate 3-node high-availability clusters, embedded analytics, and Kerberos “Run As” extract auth.
    • Operate a Docker Swarm estate (nginx, private registry, Redis Sentinel) with Azure DevOps CI/CD; built a self-service internal app-hosting platform so teams can deploy their own apps.
    • Architected a Cloudflare edge strategy: multi-ISP SD-WAN failover, WAF, and load balancing.
    • Design and tune Microsoft SQL Server databases; instrument the estate with Datadog observability; support warehouse-management and parts systems.
    • (Earlier) Built Microsoft UWP line-of-business apps, rolled out Tableau Server company-wide, and automated reporting.
  2. Pinnacle Data Solutions

    2022–Present

    Software Consultant (Contract) · Remote

    • Build multi-tenant SaaS web apps with Next.js, Supabase/PostgreSQL (row-level security), and Vercel — including donation-management portals for nonprofit clients.
    • Built a client reporting portal (White River Holdings) that replaced legacy Tableau dashboards, with custom data pipelines (HubSpot / Stova / iLevel ETL).
  3. University of Arkansas

    2018–2019

Graduate Research Assistant · Fayetteville, AR

    • Machine-learning research. Master's thesis built deep-learning models (TensorFlow, ensembles of LSTM recurrent networks) to predict opioid overdose from medical-claims data, reaching ~99% classification accuracy. Presented at IISE Annual and INFORMS conferences.
  4. The Hershey Company

    2016–2018

Category Strategy & Insights Intern · Bentonville, AR

    • Advised Walmart and Sam's Club buyers to drive growth of a $2.5B business. Automated manual reporting tasks saving over $50,000/year; named “Remarkable Person of Q3 2017.”
  5. J.B. Hunt Transport Services

    Summer 2017

Engineering Intern, Optimization · Lowell, AR

    • Built routing-heuristic applications in C#; designed and deployed a customer-facing GIS application used to drive sales of dedicated fleets (a $1.5B business).
